Creating Significant Learning Environments Strategy
The following is a compilation of my assignments in the ADL course EDLD 5313, Creating Significant Learning Environments. Each title (and picture) below can be clicked on to open the assignments for further review. My work focuses on the importance of creating significant learning environments that produce growth and authenticity in all learners. Focusing on creating a significant learning environment is essential to all learners becoming self-motivated, lifelong learners and educators. All pieces fit into a larger strategy and utilize an approach that enhances and guarantees the successful implementation of my innovation plan. My plan creates an environment where educators realize their role as learners and not only see growth in themselves as professionals but can create and model the use of COVA+CSLE for the learners in their classrooms. Creating significant learning environments should start from the top and flow down.
Creating an environment that awakens the growth potential that lies dormant within our educators is essential to creating change in our organization. While we cannot grow for our learners, we can create a fertile place for all to reach their full potential. We can ignite the fire in their hearts for learning. This response describes how we will move our educators towards growth through cultivating an environment where they will thrive and become lifelong learners through authentic experiences.
This philosophy dives into my personal beliefs and traits as a learner. It guides the reader through the importance of creating significant learning environments for choice ownership, and voice through authentic learning experiences. I discuss personal learning theories that I identify with and acknowledge areas for further growth. It reminds us that we are all learners and to grow, we must be willing to accept our failures and embrace making mistakes.

Aligning Outcomes, Assessment, & Activities
This table and plan provide the first steps of building a career portfolio for our educators. Educators learn about creating significant learning environments that include choice, ownership, and voice through authentic learning experiences along with the basics of technology that can be used for creation. Educators learn how to apply COVA + CSLE to their own learning and to provide the same for learners they work with in the future.
The UbD template, or Understanding by Design, uses the same professional learning plan as the three-column table but provides more detail. This template is described as backward design because you start by identifying the results. It includes important details, but in addition, gives the guidelines needed to ensure the focus stays on the learners during professional development.
Developing a Growth Mindset Plan

The growth mindset plan 5302 linked is from a previous course in the ADL program. My reflection revisits the previous plan and includes new thoughts on how to incorporate growth mindset concepts to create significant learning environments. It addresses the progression and understanding of learning about the growth mindset and how the growth mindset is not successful without a significant learning environment in place to support it.
